This week's True Blood saw unexpected twists, and confirmations of multiple suspicions. Seemingly unrelated plot threads found themselves' weaving together to further complicate the unending web of complexities that is Bon Temps drama.
Terry and Patrick
Let's start with Terry and Patrick. The old war chums witnessed first hand the results of their squad's curse; the were chased by the flaming smoke monster. Once accepting the reality of their situation, Terry attempts to take the honorable course of action and cut himself off from his family, to protect them.
Tara, Jessica, Hoyt, Sam, Andy and Luna
Now on to the "soups." Looks like Tara and Jessica's Sex, Bloodsucking, and the City got cancelled after only one episode. When Tara fed on Hoyt, Jess tore them apart. Obviously Jessica is still in love with Hoyt, but will never admit to it. After a pseudo fight type thing, Hoyt stormed off and let another vamp feed on him. Coincidently, those hooligans who murdered Sam's friends, and attacked Luna, showed up and killed Hoyt's feeder. The shooter recognized Hoyt, grabbed him, and threw him in the van…
This brings us to Sam, Andy, and Luna. Hoyt has now bridged the plots, and will soon find out who the vamp-murderers are.
Looks like Sam and Luna survived. This is good news, since I like them. This is also lucky for Andy, because Sam's "dogman" nose can help track whoever is behind the killings. This leads Andy into some sort of anti-vampire weapon shop. It's like a Sports Authority, but for Vamp-killers; "Van Modell's-ing." The shopkeeper tries to attack, but Sam takes him out, leaving them once again without any clues… Good thing Hoyt will show up soon with the attackers' identities.
Sookie and Jason
Jason tells Sookie about the fairy strip club, and Sookie uses her lightning fingers to find the entrance. A few more details are revealed about the Stackhouse parents' deaths, but not enough quite yet. It leads me to wonder if Bill or Eric were involved, or perhaps Russell Edgington was behind it. Has Russell been hunting Sookie all this time?
Alcide challenges the interim master of Marcus's old pack, but doesn't take his shirt off or anything, so we can move on…
Eric Bill Authority Russell Etc…
Eric and Bill found Russell, delivered him to the authority alive, and were freed from the iStakes; just in the nick of time too. When Eric goes to speak to the chancellor who betrayed the authority, his "sister", she reveals she did not free Russell. There must be someone else who knew where he was and is working against the authority. My guess is Chris Meloni's second in command/sort of girlfriend. It's not entirely revealed, but I have been suspecting her for a long while now.
Now facing his execution at the hands of Elliott Stabler, Russell Edgington goes all Russell Edgington on him, and stakes him. It's really too bad, I liked having Meloni on the show.
I'd say the high point was Sookie undoing the glamoring on Alcide, just as I predicted in my preview article. The benefit will be extending the love quad-angle between her, Alcide, Eric, and Bill, and more importantly, less clothing for all of them.
The low point of the episode (aside from the true death to Meloni, obviously) could potentially be Terry and Patrick's section. In my opinion, if their plot thread doesn't pick up soon, I will just lose interest in their scenes. My guess is Lafayette will somehow find himself involved with them, which will hopefully spice things up enough.
